Insect repellent in the fall: why it's still important

Why fall can be a peak season for insects
As the days get cooler, many insects look for a warm place to survive the winter. Your home can look particularly attractive. Here are some reasons why you should keep an eye out for insects in the fall:

    1. insects looking for winter homes: As soon as the outside temperatures drop, insects such as spiders, beetles and bugs try to escape into the warmth. They often find loopholes in poorly sealed windows, doors or tiny cracks in the walls.
    2. increased activity on mild days: Mosquitoes, flies and wasps can become active again, especially on sunny fall days. Mild temperatures prolong their life cycle and they are on the lookout for food for longer.
    3. stock up for the winter: Many insects use the fall to prepare for winter. Some species lay their eggs in cracks, crevices or in the ground to secure their offspring for the next season.

How to keep your home insect-free in the fall
Fortunately, there are some simple measures you can take to protect your home from insects in the fall:

    1. seal windows and doors: Many insects get into your home through the smallest cracks and gaps. Check windows and doors for leaks and seal them with sealing tape or silicone if necessary. Insect screens on windows are another useful barrier.
    2. cleanliness in the house and garden: Avoid leaving food out in the open and make sure that waste garbage cans are well sealed. In your garden, you should remove rotting plants and leaves, as these can provide food sources and shelter for insects.
    3. adjust light sources: Insects are attracted to light. Use amber or LED lamps outdoors, which are less attractive to insects. Indoors, make sure that no unnecessary light sources are lit near open windows and doors in the evening.
    4. repellent: The Ecobusters dispenser keeps your home free of insects, including spiders. The dispenser can be set automatically and thus help without much effort.
Autumn is not an insect-free zone

Even though summer is over, you should still take insect protection seriously. Autumn is a transitional period in which many insects are actively looking for shelter or may appear more frequently. With the right measures, you can keep your home insect-free and focus on the cozy season.
