Temperatures are rising, the grazing season is starting – and unfortunately, so is fly season.
How to Set Up Your Fly Trap
Follow these simple steps:
Choose the right location:
Pick a spot near the pasture, but not directly at the shelter or feeding area. A place that gets some sunlight is ideal, as warmth increases the attractant’s effectiveness.Set up the mounting pole:
Assemble the pole and make sure it’s standing securely and stable, even in windy conditions.Fill the fly trap:
Mix the attractant with water in the bucket. (The 6 sachets inside the attractant package are water-soluble and do not need to be opened.)Hang the trap:
Hang the fly trap so that it’s out of reach for the animals. The attractant remains effective for about 8 weeks.- Check it regularly:
Inspect the trap frequently and empty it when necessary.
Tips for Even Better Results
To make sure your fly trap works reliably all summer long, here are a few tried-and-true tips:
Refill water as needed:
Especially on hot days, water in the bucket may evaporate. Check the water level regularly and top it up if necessary — the attractant remains active.
Adjust the location:
If you notice the trap isn’t catching many flies, try moving it to a different spot. Sometimes it just takes a few meters to make a big difference.
Make use of the sun:
The attractant works best when the trap gets a bit of sunlight from time to time.
Set it up early:
The best time to set up your fly trap is now — before the fly population really takes off. This way, you’ll reduce their numbers early in the grazing season.
